A couple of mornings ago as Carey and I were praying he prayed “God keep me on my knees so that you never have to knock me to them.” As that prayer escaped his lips, I felt as though this should be the prayer of each and everyone of us! How often do we find ourselves in a great place in life and we get busy and caught up in all that is happening and forget to spend the time in the presence of the very one who got us there? Then something catastrophic rocks our world and we fall on our knees asking God, “Why” and “Help!”
If we can remain in the humble position of being on our knees, recognizing that all we are and all we have is credited to the awe inspiring grace of God, then we will never have such a long and hard fall. It does not mean that trials won’t come. James 1:3 reminds us that these trials and sufferings are a testing of our faith and that through these moments God matures us and completes us. It does mean that when trials do come, that we are already in the perfect position to push through.
My hope in prayer for every one on this 21 day journey of prayer and fasting is that we encounter God in such a real and tangible way that we can never again return to the same way of living! That we allow God to change our life so that he can use us to inspire change in others.
I just finished worshiping to a song that Kari Jobe sings, “Hossanah.” One of the lyrics says, “break my heart for what breaks yours, everything I am for your kingdom Lord.” This is my prayer! I want to be so close to the face of my Father that I can feel His heart. I want to offer everything I am for His kingdoms use.
